The APEC-IAC Joint Web Forum Event was held online from 6/21-6/22 Taipei time and jointly hosted by Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the International Academy of CIO (IAC), and Waseda University. IAC President Emeritus and this center’s advisory member Dr. Toshio Obi extended an invitation to Deputy Director Hsin-Chung Liao to share Taiwan’s achievements in the implementation of digital governance at the forum.
The themes of this forum were “digital government innovation” and “smart silver innovation”. Day 1 (6/21) focused mainly on the important feats of digital government transition in the post-pandemic era as well as the importance and development strategies of emerging technologies such as big data, AI, blockchain, and 5G. Day 2 (6/22) focused on the exploration of applying emerging technologies to solving various public issues faced in aging societies. Deputy Director Hsin-Chung Liao gave the talk “Taiwan’s Experience with MyData” on day1, sharing Taiwan’s experience in providing an autonomous personal data service (MyData) and explained how MyData’s mechanisms encourage third parties to develop innovative services that apply data to solve public issues. The forum event was an opportunity to further our interactions with other Asia-Pacific nations; the schedule, presentations, and screenshots of the event are included in attachments.
