Taiwan E-Governance Research Center (TEG), established according to the “Outsourcing Services Program of the E-Governance Research Center" under commission by the Ministry of Digital Affairs, has been operating since 2008 by the Dept. of Public Administration, National Chengchi University, with an aim to provide an interactive channel and information sharing platform for international research institutions in the related fields.
E-Governance is the usage of new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs）for better governance. These applications included government administration such as tax filing on the internet, business participation in government procurement. It is also hoped that through the concept of Web 2.0, more interaction with citizens may be achieved. So that the communication gap between the people and the government will decrease. Therefore the government’s service will be closer to the people. It is also hoped that Better Transparency, Better Accountability, and Better Policy Making of the government will be achieved.
